Traditions (Midsummer Day)

One of the few important holidays is Midsummer Day. It is celebrated on 23th June - a day before the real holiday. Mostly all people celebrate it the same way. They get together, then all over Estonia there are big fires, which burn throughout the night. People dance, eat, compete for different prizes. There are many different competitions - throwing a rubber boot, holding a heavy crate as long as you can. In my neighbourhood the party takes place near our big pond. Tere`s a small stage where people can dance.

In my family we go to our summer home with relatives and friends. We don`t have any competitions as mentioned before but we make a huge fire in a big quarry nearby.
